SERVICES OFFERED & CONDITIONS TREATEDDr. Hoch uses a holistic philosophy and focuses on these principles in all the services he offers.
Osteopathic Medicine:
Osteopathic medicine was developed by Andrew Taylor Still, M.D. in the Midwestern United States at the end of the 19th Century. Dr. Still promoted the concept that body structure and body function are intimately related. Healthy alignment of the body allows the blood to nourish the tissues and remove waste products, for the nervous system to function properly, and for us to move efficiently. The goal of osteopathic treatment is to help you to be able to do the activities you want without pain. I use a variety of techniques including cranial osteopathy, myofascial release, and visceral osteopathy (working with the internal organs). I work with the body to help it realign itself rather than forcing tissues back into place. I find this approach often gives lasting results that do not require ongoing visits. Conditions treated osteopathically: Back pain, neck pain, sciatica, TMJ, tension headaches, Injuries; motor vehicle, falls, sports, sprains, healing after fractures When there is a structural component found on exam these conditions
also treated;
Migraine headaches, recurrent ear infections in children,
Nutritional Medicine and Western Herbal Medicine: Diet, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, and other nutritional supplements are used to optimize cellular metabolic functioning and organ function. Conditions treated nutritionally: High cholesterol, diabetes / metabolic syndrome, congestive heart failure Detoxification: Nutritional and other support used to optimize liver, intestinal and cellular functioning compromised by exposure to heavy metals (mercury, lead), solvents, and other chemicals. Preventive Medicine / Wellness Medicine: Risk factor assessment for common chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Customized therapeutic plans utilizing lifestyle, diet, exercise and other interventions to improve and maintain health and prevent disease.
Mind / Body Medicine: Use of guided imaging, meditation, stress reduction, counseling, breathing exercises and Chinese Qi gong (Chi kung) to enhance health, manage stress and treat various health conditions. Energetic Approaches to Healing: Many of the world’s healing traditions see the body/mind/spirit as an energy system that extends beyond the biochemistry and physical structure of the body. Energetic approaches to movement, breathing, and meditation exercises from Chinese Qi gong and other traditions are utilized to optimize health and treat health problems. Coordinating Care with other Healthcare Practitioners: Since 1990 I have worked with, and coordinated care with, healthcare practitioners in many fields to afford my clients the best available care. I have much experience working with medical and surgical subspecialists, radiologists, mental health professionals, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists, chiropractors, herbalists, homeopaths, physical therapists, occupational therapists, developmental specialists, and others. With all of these effective modalities in my tool box I am able to offer a comprehensive and coordinated approach to most health issues. I look forward to working with you on your path to wellness. |
