MARK HOCH, MD

Dr. HochMy journey to holistic medicine started in my first semester of medical school. I realized that I needed to go beyond the confines of western medicine to have a more complete understanding of health to truly help people to heal. Since that time in 1984, I continue to study the health systems of the world to be able to offer my clients all effective and safe methods of diagnosis and treatment for their health concerns.

Prior to medical school I majored in biology with a concentration in neurobiology and behavior at Cornell University. I completed my medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh where I was a member of the curriculum committee. I then completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Connecticut, and became Board Certified in Family Medicine. Teaching has also been an important part of my career and has included mentoring medical students, residents, and practicing physicians; and academic appointments in the departments of family medicine at the University of Connecticut, Columbia University, and University of Minnesota, and at the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota’s Academic Health Center.

I am also active in the holistic medical movement nationally. I am past President of the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA), the leading association of physicians and healthcare practitioners devoted to mind/body/spirit medicine since 1978. I am a lifetime member of the AHMA since 1986, served on the Board of Trustees for nine years and taught at several of our annual conferences. I am also a Founding Diplomate (Board Certified) of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIHM)
